Georgia, Turkey ink memorandum in health care

(MENAFN) Türkiye and Georgia formalized a new partnership in health care on Tuesday by signing a memorandum of understanding.

The agreement was concluded during an official visit to Tbilisi by Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu. As stated by reports from Georgia’s Health Ministry, Memisoglu met with his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Sarjveladze, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze also hosted Memisoglu and his delegation, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. The discussions focused on strategic collaboration between the two countries and ways to strengthen their joint efforts in health care.

“During the meeting, it was emphasized that the close cooperation established between the two countries in the health sector has yielded tangible and meaningful results, contributing to the provision of quality health services and improving financial access to medicines for citizens,” the statement added.

Kobakhidze noted that the newly signed pact would further enhance cooperation between Türkiye and Georgia in the health field.

During his visit, Memisoglu also met with Zaza Lominadze, chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Health Committee, and toured the Lugar Laboratory in Tbilisi.
