Lauren Manning
- Lecturer in Dietetics and Human Nutrition, La Trobe University
Lauren is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Accredited Sports Dietitian (ASD), and Nutritionist who holds a full-time teaching and research position at La Trobe University. She has a passion for translating complex nutritional science into practical, evidence-based strategies for health and well-being and teaching students how to do the same during their studies. Her teaching spans undergraduate core nutrition subjects and sports nutrition to teaching dietetics students about private practice work and supporting their transition into the workforce.
Lauren was awarded her PhD in 2024 for her thesis, "The Role of Psychosocial Factors in Predicting Dietary Treatment Response in Irritable Bowel Syndrome." PhD targeted the role of psychological symptoms and their impact on dietary intervention response, helping to identify which treatment works best for whom. She has gone on to publish in the field of IBS and present at national and international conferences to advocate for awareness and improved management of people with IBS.
In addition, Lauren has worked in a patient-facing role where she implements evidence-based and best practice guidelines to optimise the well-being of her patients. By combining teaching, research and clinical practice, Lauren is well-positioned to be across emerging changes in practice.
