(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the scheduling of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Peskov responded to media claims that the summit had been delayed. He emphasized that the meeting could not be considered postponed because no specific date had been finalized yet.

Peskov clarified that no firm dates had been proposed for the meeting and that there was still no agreement on when it would take place.

"No specific dates have been mentioned. There's currently no agreement on them," he explained.

He further elaborated that, while a considerable amount of work and preparation is required for the summit, the Kremlin remains focused and businesslike, even though the dates are yet to be set.

"You've heard statements from both American officials and ours indicating that this might take some time. Therefore, precise timelines were never established initially," he added.

The Kremlin spokesperson also pointed out that it was too early to speculate on the potential involvement of any European Union countries in the Russia-US summit or to reveal any proposals Moscow might have prepared as part of a peace process related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"Naturally, voicing proposals cannot be done in such a 'megaphone' fashion. It's still quite a discreet process, and it should serve the interests of the process itself and its effectiveness," Peskov remarked.

Additionally, in response to comments made by Sergey Naryshkin, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), who suggested that European NATO members are preparing for war with Russia, Peskov stated that European nations are neither champions of peace nor are they contributing to peace efforts.
