5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Philippines


(MENAFN) A seismic event measuring 5.8 in magnitude occurred off the southeastern coast of the Philippines at 11:35 GMT on Monday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The tremor originated at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), as reported by the USGS.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 103 kilometers (64 miles) east of Manay municipality in the Davao Oriental province, based on information from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, which registered the quake’s strength as 5.7.

No damage has been reported, and there were no tsunami warnings issued following the seismic activity.
