Lukashenko Says Tomahawks to Ukraine Won’t Change Anything

(MENAFN) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has cautioned that dispatching Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine will not bring about a resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Instead, he asserted that such a measure would significantly heighten hostilities.

His remarks come amid growing speculation about the United States possibly supplying these advanced weapons to Kiev.

Last month, American authorities hinted that Washington might be considering the option of sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump clarified that no conclusive judgment has been reached regarding this matter.

These missiles, each valued at roughly $1.3 million, possess a range of approximately 2,500 kilometers—making it theoretically feasible for Ukrainian forces to hit strategic locations deep within Russian territory, including Moscow.

During a speech in Minsk on Tuesday, Lukashenko emphasized that providing such weaponry to Kiev would not contribute to ending the conflict. Instead, he warned, it could “escalate the situation into a nuclear war.”

He noted that Trump “understands this better than anyone” and implied that the U.S. leader is reluctant to approve the delivery of such deadly arms or allow aggressive strikes into Russian territory, as advocated by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also voiced serious concerns, warning that the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles would prompt Moscow to fortify its air defense systems and further damage the already strained relations between the U.S. and Russia.

He maintained that the addition of these missiles would not shift the strategic balance on the battlefield.

Echoing Putin’s apprehensions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov argued that Kiev cannot be trusted to manage such sophisticated weaponry with caution.

Kremlin authorities have consistently accused Ukraine of misusing Western-provided arms in targeted attacks against civilians.
