France Declares Boosting Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron declared that France will enhance its humanitarian initiatives in Gaza following the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit held in Egypt.
Addressing reporters at the airport after the summit on Monday, Macron expressed satisfaction with the maintenance of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as well as the release of the 20 surviving Israeli hostages by the Palestinian faction.
He confirmed that all hostages had been freed and that aid activities in Gaza had commenced with "greater intensity than planned," emphasizing that humanitarian assistance would be intensified starting Tuesday.
Macron emphasized that France would collaborate with the United States and Israel to guarantee the continuous and unrestricted delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
He also announced that a humanitarian aid conference for Gaza will take place in the coming weeks as part of the ceasefire’s initial phase.
Furthermore, he stated that "in the second phase, funds will be mobilized to rapidly restart the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza."
Addressing ongoing ambiguities regarding Gaza’s governance, Macron noted that the UN Security Council had reached an agreement involving the Palestinian Authority and other nations to advance towards a resolution.
Additionally, technical discussions concerning Hamas's disarmament are expected to commence soon.
Last week, US President Donald Trump revealed that Israel and Hamas had consented to the first phase of a plan he introduced on September 29.
The plan aims to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, secure the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and gradually withdraw Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip. This initial phase of the agreement took effect last Friday.
