Egypt’s President Stresses Need to Deploy International Forces in Gaza

(MENAFN) Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi emphasized the critical need for deploying international forces in Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency on Saturday.

During a phone call with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, al-Sisi thoroughly discussed the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement, underscoring the urgency of its full implementation and calling for a legitimate international framework via the UN Security Council to uphold the deal.

The statement added that al-Sisi invited Christodoulides to attend the signing ceremony of the agreement in Egypt.

Christodoulides expressed his support for the ceasefire and commended Egypt’s pivotal role, stating his backing for the deal’s execution.

Earlier, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced plans for a summit in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, co-hosted by President al-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, though the exact timing remains undisclosed.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on Friday after intense three-day negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh, facilitated by Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, and the United States.
