Germany Intends to Acquire Skyranger 30 System

(MENAFN) Germany intends to acquire more than 600 "Skyranger 30" air defense units from Rheinmetall, in a contract reportedly valued at several billion euros, according to reports from local media on Friday.

Based on information from the German Defense Ministry cited by the daily, the full delivery of the systems is anticipated by the year 2030.

The overall purchase is projected to surpass €9 billion (approximately $10.4 billion).

This acquisition decision arises in response to increasing fears about illegal drone operations and aligns with the government’s commitment to upgrading the Bundeswehr’s air defense technologies.

As per insights from industry insiders, the Skyranger system is highly capable of countering drones and low-altitude targets.

Its radar technology can identify larger military drones from as far as ten kilometers away, while even miniature drones, weighing as little as 250 grams, can be detected within a six-kilometer range.
