
Egyptian, Algerian Presidents Discuss Efforts To End War In Gaza Strip, Regional Issues By Phone
Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed, in a phone call on Wednesday, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip, and a number of regional issues.
The Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the call witnessed a broad consensus between the two sides, particularly regarding the emphasis on the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and work to restore stability to the Middle East.
During the call, the Egyptian president briefed his Algerian counterpart on his country's efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip, implement US President Donald Trump's plan in this regard, and the course of the negotiations hosted by his country.
In this regard, El Sisi stressed the importance of capitalizing on the momentum generated by the US plan and international recognition of the State of Palestine, and working to launch a peaceful political process leading to a two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
For his part, the Algerian president praised Egypt's efforts to halt the war on Gaza, facilitate the delivery of aid, and reject the displacement of Gaza's residents.
He affirmed his country's full support for these efforts aimed at ending the suffering of the Palestinian people.
