Gaza Bleeds: Israel Kills 118 More Palestinians in Just Four Days

(MENAFN) Over the past four days, Israeli military air and artillery attacks have claimed the lives of 118 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, defying a ceasefire appeal issued by US President Donald Trump, the Gaza Government Media Office reported Tuesday.

The office condemned the ongoing strikes, stating, “Israeli forces continue their aggression against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, disregarding the ceasefire call announced by President Donald Trump and the positive response to his proposal.”

Between early Saturday, October 4, and the end of Tuesday, October 7, Israel executed more than 230 air and artillery assaults targeting densely populated civilian and displacement zones throughout Gaza’s governorates, which the office described as “clear massacres.”

The fatalities include women and children, with 72 deaths recorded in Gaza City alone, according to the statement.

Holding Israel fully accountable for the deadly attacks, the Gaza Government Media Office called on the US administration and the international community to “take serious, effective and urgent action to stop the aggression and to establish a real ceasefire.”

President Trump had urged Israel on Saturday to immediately cease its bombardment of Gaza after Hamas responded positively to his 20-point ceasefire plan.

On Sunday evening, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that weekend ceasefire negotiations were “positive” and “proceeding rapidly.”

Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas resumed Monday in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, with mediation by Egypt and Qatar.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Tuesday the discussions aim to facilitate a hostage-prisoner exchange and ensure the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He added that they also focus on agreeing to maps detailing Israeli troop redeployments as a step toward withdrawal from the territory.

Since October 2023, Israeli strikes have killed more than 67,100 Palestinians in Gaza, predominantly women and children, leaving the enclave largely uninhabitable.
