Hrynchuk Discusses Urgent Support Needs Of Ukrainian Energy Sector With G7+ Leaders

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In a statement shared on Facebook and reported by Ukrinform, Hrynchuk emphasized the importance of international support to maintain energy resilience.

She noted that Ukraine had compiled a list of priority needs to be submitted to the G7+, including additional air defense systems to protect energy facilities, financial resources, and assistance in sourcing, delivering, and installing equipment to replace damaged assets.

Hrynchuk said that since the last dialogue with partners just days ago, Ukraine's energy infrastructure had suffered renewed strikes. She briefed the G7+ on the damage and the ongoing repair efforts.

“Russia is deliberately targeting energy facilities in frontline regions, aiming to plunge these areas into darkness and cold,” she wrote, adding that Ukraine's gas infrastructure is also among the targets. She stressed the need for partner support in restoring and protecting infrastructure, building equipment reserves, and securing additional stocks of imported natural gas ahead of winter.

As reported, Russia launched a combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure overnight on October 5, damaging facilities operated by Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo and Naftogaz Group. Further attacks occurred in the Donetsk region on October 6, and in the Sumy and Poltava regions overnight on October 7.
