Kim Jong-un Celebrates 'Immortal' Alliance with Russia

(MENAFN) In a recent statement, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un praised the exceptionally strong relationship between his nation and Russia, referring to their bond as “immortal.”

This message was shared through a state-run news agency on Tuesday, coinciding with Russian President Vladimir Putin's 73rd birthday.

Kim expressed heartfelt congratulations to Putin, admiring his “wise leadership” and “patriotic devotion.” He emphasized that Russia continues to “demonstrate its glory as a world power” and is “taking the lead in establishing a new, multi-polarized world,” positioning itself prominently on the global stage.

The North Korean leader further assured that Pyongyang remains committed to fulfilling the terms of the intergovernmental agreement with Russia, framing this commitment as a “fraternal duty.”

He reaffirmed North Korea’s endorsement of Russia’s “just struggle for defending national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests,” reflecting Pyongyang’s alignment with Moscow’s geopolitical stance.

“Pyongyang and Moscow will always stand together and our friendship will be immortal,” Kim declared, reiterating the enduring nature of their alliance.

Back in June 2024, the two nations formalized their close ties by signing a landmark Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.

This agreement contains a mutual defense clause, which asserts that if either country suffers an “armed invasion,” the other will “provide military and other assistance… without delay.”
