Trump to Hit Imported Medium-, Heavy-Duty Trucks with Tariffs

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump declared on Monday that a 25 percent tariff will be imposed on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks beginning November 1, 2025.

“Beginning November 1st, 2025, all Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks coming into the United States from other Countries will be Tariffed at the Rate of 25 percent,” Trump announced in a post on Truth Social.

Earlier, on September 25, Trump had unveiled a similar 25 percent tariff set to start October 1, targeting “Heavy (Big!) Trucks” manufactured outside the U.S. “We need our Truckers to be financially healthy and strong, for many reasons, but above all else, for National Security purposes!” he wrote at that time.

The planned tariff faced delays due to opposition from major U.S. automakers, who voiced concerns over potential supply chain disruptions and rising costs, local media outlets reported.
