Turkish Investments in Kyrgyzstan Surpass USD1.4 Billion
(MENAFN) Turkish financial involvement in Kyrgyzstan has gone beyond $1.4 billion, according to Türkiye’s ambassador to Bishkek, who characterized the growing partnership between the two countries as a “special and honorable duty.”
Ambassador Mustafa Kemal Okem made this statement during a press briefing over breakfast with journalists in the Kyrgyz capital.
Currently, around 350 businesses from Türkiye are active in Kyrgyzstan, operating in diverse industries such as mining, tourism, energy, infrastructure development, and transportation.
“Recently, Turkish companies have undertaken significant projects in areas such as energy and construction. We hope to see more Turkish companies participate in projects in Kyrgyzstan,” the ambassador noted, pointing out that Turkish investment touches every region of the Central Asian nation.
Okem also discussed economic goals, stating that the updated trade objective—established at the presidential level—is now $5 billion.
The volume of trade between the two nations climbed by approximately 5% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching $1.546 billion. By July 2025, this figure had already reached around $829 million.
The ambassador underlined the efforts of Türkiye’s Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which has carried out over 1,000 initiatives in Kyrgyzstan, backed by a total allocation of $88 million. “We are launching our projects at the request of Kyrgyzstan,” he remarked, underscoring Türkiye’s commitment to engaging with local organizations at each phase of their work.
He encouraged deeper involvement from local partners, emphasizing that this cooperative model has always been their standard procedure.
He also expressed appreciation to the Kyrgyz government and its institutions for their continuous collaboration.
