Moldova’s Election Commission Approves Results of Parliamentary Vote

(MENAFN) The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova on Sunday officially validated the final outcomes of the parliamentary elections held on September 28.

In its statement, the CEC detailed that the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) secured 55 seats in parliament. The Patriotic Electoral Bloc followed with 26 seats, the Alternative Bloc gained eight, Our Party earned six, and the Democracy at Home Party also obtained six seats.

With a clear simple majority, PAS is set to maintain control over the parliament and is anticipated to lead the formation of the next government. Meanwhile, the Patriotic Electoral Bloc will take on the role of the primary opposition.

Voter participation stood at 52.24 percent, exceeding the minimum legal threshold required for the election to be valid, the CEC confirmed.

Next, the CEC will deliver its comprehensive report to the Constitutional Court, which is tasked with reviewing the election’s legality and officially validating the newly elected deputies.
