Kuwait Wins Five Medals Including Two Gold In Asian Track And Field Tourney


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT -- The team, in addition to the gold trophies, bagged two silver medals and a single bronze one in the under-20 competitions.
Mohammad Al-Duaij snatched the gold medal in high jump with a new personal record, 2.07 meters. His compatriot Meshari Al-Mutairi came on top in the 110-m hurdles with a record time, 14.12 seconds.
Their peer Jassem Al-Qinaee won the silver medal in hurdles, with 14.14 seconds, and his fellow citizen Saad Al-Rashidi bagged a similar trophy in the 800-m race, 1,55.87 minutes. Another Kuwaiti champion, Abdulatif Faisal, who had been injured prior to the tournament, won a bronze medal, 2.02,77 minutes.
At onset of the tournament on Thursday, the Kuwaiti team won one gold medal and two bronze ones.
The Asian tournament, due until October 5, involves teams from Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq and the host country Lebanon. (end)
