Zelensky Explains Hungary Blocking Ukraine's EU Accession

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference in Copenhagen after the conclusion of the VII Summit of the European Political Community, according to a correspondent for Ukrinform.

"As for blocking our rapprochement with the European Union, no one can block it, because it is Ukraine's will and, accordingly, Europe's decision to see Ukraine as part of the European Union in the future. But, of course, everything depends on unity, on a joint decision. We have certain problems with Hungary, we can talk about it openly. Because Viktor Orbán has elections," Zelensky said.

He also recalled that Russia launched its aggression against Ukraine precisely because of Ukraine's desire to become a member of the EU.

“Russia started the war because of our will, because of our choice to move towards Europe, because we feel and share the same values as other European countries,” the President emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Hungary, using the principle of unanimity in decisions on EU enlargement, is blocking the process of starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
