Wildfires Erupt in Northern Mongolia

(MENAFN) Hundreds of firefighters are actively engaged in controlling forest fires raging across two northern provinces of Mongolia, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported Thursday.

The fires ignited on Wednesday in Khutag-Undur soum of Bulgan province and Galt soum of Khuvsgul province, with NEMA citing citizen negligence as the cause, as detailed in an official statement.

Experts have identified careless fire use by residents and intentional burning of grass and debris as the primary triggers behind these natural wildfires.

With dry and windy weather dominating much of Mongolia this autumn, NEMA highlighted the increased danger of sudden forest-steppe fires and called on the public to remain vigilant and take all necessary measures to avoid new outbreaks.
