Sandu states Russia’s attempts to influence voting had failed

(MENAFN) According toa news agency on Tuesday, Maia Sandu, the Leader of Moldova, stated that Russia tried to manipulate the nation’s newest parliamentary voting to have control in Chisinau.

Sandu asserted Moscow’s association in the voting was less about Moldova and more about its strategic position.

She stated that “the Republic of Moldova is a small country, we do not have metals or other great wealth. Russia did not want control of us, but because the ultimate target was the EU. Moldova was just a plateau from which it could harm the European Union.”

She emphasized that Moldovans replied with an “honest and courageous” vote, making it clear that rulings are made on a national level.

Sandu said “I believe that our example can be followed by other countries in the former Soviet Union, where Russia is trying to take control and limit sovereignty.”
