Pakistan Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan
(MENAFN) Pakistan’s senior diplomat, Ishaq Dar, stated on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump’s 20-point strategy aimed at resolving the Israeli conflict in Gaza is “not our document.”
Dar emphasized that the plan currently presented does not originate from Pakistan and highlighted that there are crucial elements they want incorporated.
He insisted, “If they are not covered, they will be covered,” underscoring that the immediate goals of the initiative should focus on establishing a ceasefire, “stop the blood, let the humanitarian aid flow and end forced displacement.” He shared these views during a press conference held in Islamabad.
He described Trump’s unveiling of the 20-point plan as “an announcement from their side,” suggesting that it was unilateral and did not reflect all concerned parties' interests.
Dar also mentioned a joint declaration issued by eight countries, which Pakistan fully supports.
He stated, “We have issued a joint statement on behalf of eight countries. We own this. If there is any difference anywhere, we would go by — we are committed to this,” referring to the collective endorsement from several Muslim-majority nations.
The leaders of Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and Indonesia convened with Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, during which the US President outlined his approach to ending the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
Following this, in an interview with a local broadcaster, Dar reiterated that the version of Trump’s plan published by the White House “does not include all of our proposals.”
This stance aligns with comments made by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who stated that certain aspects of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan “require clarification and negotiation.”
