Trump’s government deports about one hundred Iranians

(MENAFN) The Trump administration has deported roughly 100 Iranians from the United States to Iran under a bilateral agreement between the two countries, according to reports.

Officials from both nations indicated that a US-chartered flight carrying the deportees left Louisiana on Monday night and was expected to reach Iran via Qatar on Tuesday. A US official confirmed that final preparations for the flight had been completed.

Sources noted that the group included men, women, and some couples, with a portion volunteering after months in detention, while most had either been denied asylum or had not yet appeared before a judge.

Iranian authorities described the deportation as a rare example of US-Iran cooperation following months of discussions, with the Foreign Ministry coordinating the return and assuring the safety of the deportees.

The United States has historically faced difficulties deporting migrants to countries like Iran due to limited diplomatic relations and delays in processing travel documents, often resulting in prolonged detention or release. In 2024, the US deported slightly more than two dozen Iranians through several commercial flights, marking the highest number in recent years.
