Angoor Adda Border Reopens After Two Years, Boosting Trade And Livelihoods In South Waziristan
After two years of closure, the Angoor Adda crossing on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in South Waziristan Lower was formally reopened today for trade activities. The reopening is expected to revive business, generate economic benefits, and create new employment opportunities for the local population.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Member of the National Assembly Zubair Wazir and Deputy Commander of the Khumrang Brigade, along with schoolchildren, religious scholars, and tribal elders in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Zubair Wazir said the reopening of the border would help reduce unemployment in Waziristan and strengthen the national economy. He added that the move would open new doors of employment for youth and contribute to the national exchequer through enhanced trade.

President of the Waziristan Chamber of Commerce, Saif-ur-Rehman, said business had been at a complete standstill for two years, but the reopening of the Angoor Adda border has now revived commercial activities. He noted that Waziristan's renowned pine nuts, fresh fruits, and dry fruits could now be exported worldwide with greater ease.
Residents of the border region welcomed the move, saying it would further improve Pakistan-Afghanistan trade relations and inject fresh momentum into the regional economy.
During the ceremony, the NLC terminal in Bermal area of South Waziristan Lower was also formally inaugurated.
