N. Korea’s leader urges for enhancing Pyongyang’s ‘nuclear shield and sword’
(MENAFN) At a meeting with the nuclear scientists and technicians of the Nuclear Weapons Institute on Saturday, N. Korean President Kim Jong Un called for the continuous improvement and enhancement of Pyongyang's "nuclear shield and sword" and consistently "defending the security of the sovereignty, interests and right to development" of the state.
Reported by a state-run news agency that Kim stated that Pyongyang will give priority to "providing and supporting every possibility and condition to the nuclear technology field for its sustained development."
It stated that Kim received a briefing on the prosses of turning the 2025 strategy in to reality to boost nuclear material production capacity domain.
Kim "declared that steadily evolving the state's nuclear response posture is an essential top priority task in view of the security environment of the Republic, the most right choice for the present and future of the state and an unchangeable duty that we must carry out."
Chung Dong-young, S. Korea's Unification Minister, alleged on Thursday that N. Korea had up to 2,000 kilograms of highly enriched uranium.
Speaking at a parliamentary meeting previously this week, Kim also stated that there was “no reason to avoid dialogue with the US” if Washington withdrew its request for denuclearization.
