Drone Sighting Forces Norwegian Flight to Change Course

(MENAFN) A Norwegian airline flight was diverted late Sunday following a reported drone sighting, just one week after Oslo airport experienced a three-hour closure due to a similar incident.

The flight, en route from Oslo to Bardufoss in northern Troms county, was forced to return to its origin after the drone was spotted, according to Eivind Hammer Myhre, a press officer with Norwegian, who spoke to media.

Authorities were immediately alerted, and reports indicate the drones are no longer visible in the area.

Earlier in the day, drones were sighted near an airport in Nordland county, prompting one flight to reroute to a nearby alternative airport.

On Monday, local police confirmed the presence of two drones at the time of the disruption. However, there are no suspects identified at this stage.

This latest incident follows a similar event last week when Oslo airport was forced to close its airspace for three hours due to a drone sighting. Several European countries, including Poland, Romania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway, and Denmark, have recently reported increasing incidents of airspace violations linked to drones, some believed to be of Russian origin.
