Trump calls for investigation into “triple sabotage” at UN General Assembly
(MENAFN) According to reports, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday demanded that a formal inquiry be launched into what he labeled as a “triple sabotage” during his appearance at the United Nations General Assembly. He pointed to three separate disruptions: an escalator malfunction, a blackout of his teleprompter, and an audio breakdown.
In a detailed post on his Truth Social account, Trump described the sequence of problems as “a real disgrace,” insisting they were intentional efforts meant to discredit him as he addressed more than 150 world leaders.
Trump recounted that the escalator transporting him and First Lady Melania Trump to the main hall “came to a screeching halt,” nearly causing both of them to stumble. He also complained that his teleprompter was unusable for the opening 15 minutes of his remarks, and that the audio cut out within the hall to the extent that even his wife could not hear him.
As stated by reports, UN officials explained that a videographer from the US delegation, who was walking backward to record Trump’s entrance, may have unintentionally activated the escalator’s safety stop function, bringing it to an abrupt halt.
“This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN,” Trump wrote. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I’m sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary-General, and I demand an immediate investigation.”
He further noted that the Secret Service had become involved and pressed the UN to secure all video evidence from the area around the emergency stop switch.
While speaking at the General Assembly, Trump made light of the situation, remarking: “These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.”
