DHS Reports Number of Illegal Migrants’ Departures

(MENAFN) The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed on Tuesday that more than 2 million undocumented migrants have exited the United States since January 20, describing it as a landmark achievement in President Donald Trump’s intensified campaign against unlawful immigration.

In a statement, the DHS noted that the total figure consists of nearly 1.6 million voluntary returns and over 400,000 official removals within fewer than 250 days.

The department added that it is projected to expel close to 600,000 individuals by the conclusion of Trump’s first year back in the White House.

“The numbers don’t lie: 2 million illegal aliens have been removed or self-deported in just 250 days -- proving that President Trump’s policies and Secretary Noem’s leadership are working and making American communities safe,” declared Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

“Ramped-up immigration enforcement targeting the worst of the worst is removing more and more criminal illegal aliens off our streets every day and is sending a clear message to anyone else in this country illegally: Self-deport or we will arrest and deport you.”

According to the DHS, for four straight months, US Customs and Border Protection has recorded zero unlawful crossings, referencing a United Nations analysis showing a 97% decline in northbound migration from Central America since Trump’s directives were enacted.

Almost half of potential migrants surveyed said they gave up their attempts because they believed "it would be impossible to enter the US under President Trump," the agency emphasized.
