Brazil's Beef Exports Rise 34%


(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Brazilian beef exports totaled USD 10.84 billion year to date, up 34% compared to the same period last year, according to the sector report released Tuesday (23) by beef lobbying group Abrafrigo . In terms of volume, 2.41 million metric tons were exported through August, 19% more than in the same period in 2024.

Abrafrigo reported that August exports totaled USD 1.669 billion, up 49% compared to the same month last year. In terms of volume, growth was 19%, reaching 359,400 tons. Abrafrigo uses data from Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services to compile the information, including in its calculations exports of fresh beef, processed meat, offal and edible products, as well as by-products such as beef tallow.

The top destination of the sector's exports was China, which accounts for nearly half of Brazil's total beef exports. Year-to-date exports to the Asian country totaled USD 4.969 billion, up 41.2% compared to January-August 2024.. Volume-wise, 948,400 tons were shipped through August, a 19% increase over the same period. The United States, Chile, Mexico, and Russia complete the list of the five main destinations, according to statistics presented by Abrafrigo.

In the case of the U.S., the institution reports that exports have increased year to date but fell in August. The decline is due to higher tariffs on Brazilian products imposed by the U.S.
