Kim Jong-un Hints at North Korea’s “Secret Weapons”
(MENAFN) North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has suggested that the nation has developed “secret weapons” aimed at enhancing its deterrent power against the United States and its partners.
In remarks broadcast by a state-operated news agency shared on Monday, Kim emphasized that Pyongyang must “continuously stockpile even more formidable forces capable of repelling all military threats.”
He accused Washington and its allies of heightening instability in the region through “provocative actions that further escalate tensions” while ignoring North Korea’s security interests.
As a counterbalance to these perceived dangers, Kim asserted that North Korea has “acquired new secret weapons and has achieved a significant number of research achievements in defense science,” though he refrained from giving details.
He further noted that Pyongyang has “successfully built a strategic axis for safeguarding maritime sovereignty by producing destroyers capable of performing various maritime military missions.”
These declarations follow North Korea’s announcement earlier this month that it had completed the last ground experiment of a solid-fuel engine designed for the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile, a system potentially able to target the mainland United States.
Additionally, last week Kim supervised the testing of tactical strike drones named Kumsong along with an unmanned strategic reconnaissance aircraft. Back in March, he witnessed the trials of AI-enabled “suicide drones.”
