Somali immigration office ‘working very hard’ to combat extremism
(MENAFN) The chief executive of Somalia’s immigration office said to a news agency that the office is “working very hard” in collaboration with international nations to fight extremism and improve border security .
Mustafa Sheikh Ali Dhuhulow stated the Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) is one of the East African nation’s biggest federal agencies, working national with more than 1,400 employees, with its head office in the capital Mogadishu.
He stated, “the immigration system has actually come a long way.”
Founded in 1946, the ICA functioned under the Somali Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) before moving to the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), where it developed into an essential component of Somalia’s internal security system, according to Dhuhulow.
Dhuhulow stated the agency is “working very hard” to battle extremists, with qualified workforce teaming up with both internal security agencies and international partners.
He emphasized that “we are actually trying to train our staffers to make sure that the Somali immigration (agency) can work with the rest of the world. We are making sure that there are no illegal travelers travelling from Somalia and to Somalia.”
