Turkey, Armenia, US hold sixth round of talks
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s special representative for normalization, retired Ambassador Serdar Kilic, and his Armenian counterpart, Deputy Parliament Ruben Rubinyan, held the sixth round of talks on Friday in Yerevan.
During the meeting, they reaffirmed their commitment to pursue normalization “without preconditions” and agreed to accelerate implementation of an agreement on border crossings between the two nations, according to a statement from Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry.
The representatives reviewed previously agreed issues aimed at advancing full normalization. Kilic and Rubinyan discussed executing the July 2022 agreement on border crossings and decided that authorities in both countries would carry out technical work to rehabilitate and reactivate the Kars-Gyumri railway and the electricity interconnector.
The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in culture and academia, including scholarship programs for higher education students and joint restoration of the historic Silk Road (Ani) Bridge.
Additionally, Kilic and Rubinyan reached an understanding to facilitate the launch of flights by other airlines to multiple destinations starting next summer, aiming to increase air travel and flight frequency between Türkiye and Armenia.
