Indian Man Chandra Nagamallaiah Beheaded With Machete At Dallas Motel India Condoles Tragic Death

(MENAFN- Live Mint) In a horrific incident, a 50-year-old Indian motel manager, Chandra Nagamallaiah, was fatally stabbed and beheaded at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas on Wednesday morning, reported nbcdfw. Dallas police arrested 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez shortly after the incident. Officers tracked him down moments after he fled the scene and found him wearing a blood-soaked T-shirt.

The Consulate General of India in Houston expressed condolences on the death of Chandra Nagamallaia . In a statement on X, it wrote,“Consulate General of India, Houston, condoles the tragic death of Mr. Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian National, killed brutally at his workplace in Dallas, Tx. We are in touch with the family and offering all possible assistance. The accused is in the custody of Dallas Police. We are following up on the matter closely.”

Eyewitnesses say

Eyewitnesses said Cobos-Martinez placed the victim's severed head in a dumpster. Nancy Pineda, who works next door to the motel, told NBC that police swarmed Samuell Boulevard shortly after 9:30 am Wednesday.

"There was a lady who came in here and told me there was a guy running or something," Pineda said.

Another witness reported that Chandra Nagamallaiah first screamed for help and ran towards the motel office, where his wife and son were.

Despite his son's effort to hit the man with a bat , the suspect continued stabbing Nagamallaiah with a machete and then decapitated him.

According to the arrest affidavit released Wednesday evening, Chandra Nagamallaiah was cleaning a room with a co-worker when he asked Cobos-Martinez not to use a broken washing machine. The suspect became upset when the message was relayed through a female co-worker, who tried to translate instead of speaking to him directly.

"Video shows the suspect then exited the motel room and produced a machete from his person and started cutting and stabbing the complainant multiple times," the affidavit states.

Witnesses said that the suspect continued striking Nagamallaiah despite efforts by his wife and son to stop the attack. The man then kicked Nagamallaiah's decapitated head into the parking lot, then picked it up and put it in a dumpster, the affidavit said.

Police said when Cobos-Martinez was arrested, he was still armed with the machete, along with Nagamallaiah's key card and cell phone. During questioning, police said he admitted to the killing.
