Syrian leader to participate in UN General assembly in NY
(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa is set to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, which will run from September 22 to 30 and include the annual High-Level Week.
He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and a senior diplomatic team, according to reports.
This marks the first time a Syrian president has taken part in the General Assembly since 1967, and also the country’s first involvement in the High-Level Week.
During the visit, both Al-Sharaa and al-Shaibani are expected to participate in a series of meetings and events, as well as hold bilateral talks with other world leaders and delegation heads present at the gathering.
