Ukraine Drone Attack Destroys USD60M Russian Naval Vessel
(MENAFN) Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced Thursday that one of its combat drones severely damaged a Russian Black Sea Fleet vessel during a precision strike.
According to a statement from the ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, the drone operation was executed by Ukrainian special forces on Wednesday. The target, a multipurpose salvage ship identified as the MPSV07, was struck while engaged in reconnaissance and patrol duties off the coast of Novorossiysk, a key Russian port.
“The strike destroyed the Russian vessel's control bridge that hosts the navigation and communication equipment,” the ministry said.
The MPSV07, introduced into Russian naval service in 2015, carries an estimated value of $60 million, the statement added.
This marks the latest in a series of Ukrainian drone operations aimed at disrupting Russian maritime capabilities in the Black Sea region.
