French President Slams Israeli Attack on Doha as 'Unacceptable'

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday condemned a recent Israeli military operation in Doha, stating that strikes targeting Hamas leadership were "unacceptable" irrespective of the justification. He publicly expressed his support for Qatar following the attack.

On the social media platform X, Macron wrote, "Today's Israeli strikes on Qatar are unacceptable, whatever the reason. I express my solidarity with Qatar and its Emir, Sheikh Tamim Al Thani."

The French leader further warned against a wider conflict, adding, "Under no circumstances should the war spread throughout the region."

The Israeli military confirmed it had carried out a "precise strike targeting the senior leadership" of the Palestinian group, while multiple blasts were reported in the Qatari capital. According to the Israeli premier's office, the operation was a "wholly independent Israeli operation."

Qatar's government denounced the assault as a "cowardly" act, confirming the strike hit residential buildings where members of Hamas’s political bureau resided.
