Qatar Seeks U.S. Intervention to Prevent Future Israeli Attacks

(MENAFN) Qatar has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrike on Doha, calling it a clear violation of its sovereignty and international law. The Gulf nation stated that it is collaborating with the United States to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.

Speaking in a broadcast aired on media on Wednesday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari condemned the attack, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of displaying “absolutely no respect for his partners and allies.” Al Ansari emphasized that Netanyahu’s actions risked turning peace mediators into scapegoats, rather than protecting them. He stressed that the attack would not derail Qatar's efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement.

Al Ansari revealed that the United States informed Doha about the strike only after it had occurred. However, U.S. President Donald Trump later assured Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani that such incidents would not happen again. In response, the Emir stated that the attack would not go unanswered and pledged to pursue all necessary legal and diplomatic actions.

Qatar, a major non-NATO ally of the United States, is home to the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East.
