Student Bus Crash Injures Nearly 30 in Czech Mountains
(MENAFN) A bus carrying students to a ski resort overturned in the Moravian-Silesian region early Monday, leaving approximately 30 people injured, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred in the morning hours in the mountainous village of Stare Hamry, in northeastern Czech Republic. Regional fire rescue officials confirmed that all 32 students onboard sustained injuries. According to Czech Television, two accompanying adults were also hurt, bringing the total number of injured to 34.
The majority of injuries were assessed as minor to moderate, with no lives reported to be in danger. According to Czech Television, emergency responders confirmed that four of the injured individuals were taken to hospital for further treatment.
The bus, which was en route to a ski destination, veered off a local road, collided with an electric pole, and flipped onto its side, police said. Authorities are probing a possible technical malfunction as the cause. The incident is being treated as a case of general endangerment due to negligence.
