Uzbekistan, US to boost mutual beneficial cooperation

(MENAFN) Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump agreed on Friday to expand their strategic partnership and boost mutually beneficial cooperation, the Uzbek presidency reported.

Trump lauded Uzbekistan’s “irreversible reforms” aimed at modernizing the economy and raising living standards, while Mirziyoyev congratulated Trump on the US administration’s “impressive domestic and foreign policy achievements.”

The leaders discussed business ties, security cooperation, cultural exchanges, and regional collaboration. They highlighted growing trade, up 15% in 2024, and progress in civil aviation, energy, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, and education.

The Uzbek presidency said a series of bilateral meetings with US companies will take place this month to foster long-term partnerships. The conversation also covered joint efforts against terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Several US university branches operate in Tashkent, and Uzbekistan’s national football team will compete in next year’s World Cup in the US for the first time.
