Gaza Bleeds: Israel Kills Over 64,000 Palestinians
(MENAFN) More than 64,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israel's continued genocidal campaign on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry on Friday. In the latest development, three more individuals died from starvation in the besieged enclave.
The ministry detailed that 69 bodies were delivered to hospitals within the past 24 hours, while 422 others sustained injuries, raising the total number of wounded to 162,005 since the start of Israel's assault.
"Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them," the statement noted.
In the last 24 hours, the Israeli military's gunfire claimed six Palestinian lives, and over 190 others were injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid. This brings the total number of fatalities linked to aid efforts to 2,362, with over 17,434 wounded since May 27.
The Health Ministry also reported that three Palestinians died from malnutrition and starvation in the past day, adding to the grim toll of famine-related deaths, which now stands at 376 since October 2023. Of these, 134 were children.
The closure of all Gaza border crossings by Israeli authorities since March 2 has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, with the population of 2.4 million now pushed into severe food insecurity. A UN-backed food security assessment confirmed that northern Gaza is in famine, with the situation expected to worsen and spread further south by the end of this month.
The Israeli military resumed its offensive on March 18, shattering a January ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. Since then, it has killed 11,768 people and injured 49,964 others, continuing the devastating campaign that has now stretched into its 700th day.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
