Cholong Sung is a Lecturer in Korean at SOAS University of London. She earned her MA in Korean Music Theory from Seoul National University and her PhD in Music from SOAS University of London. As a specialist in Korean music, culture, and language, she is particularly interested in exploring how music and language develop and function within culture.
Her research is divided into two main branches. The first focuses on music and culture: drawing on her training in traditional Korean music at Ewha Womans University and Seoul National University, she investigates the role of music and its functions within society and culture. The second branch centers on language education. Building on her undergraduate studies in education and pedagogy, she is committed to developing more effective and efficient approaches to teaching Korean.
