Fortaleza Dismisses Manager Renato Paiva
(MENAFN) Brazilian Serie A club Fortaleza has dismissed Portuguese manager Renato Paiva after less than two months in charge, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The decision follows a 2-1 defeat to Internacional on Sunday, which left Fortaleza languishing in 19th place in the 20-team league standings.
Fortaleza also announced that assistant coaches Ricardo Dionisio and Miguel Santos, along with goalkeeping coach Rui Tavares, were also let go. "We thank them for their services and wish them future success," the club stated in a brief message on social media.
Paiva, who succeeded Argentine Juan Pablo Vojvoda in mid-July, led Fortaleza to just one win in 10 matches during his short tenure.
Fortaleza's next Serie A match is scheduled for September 13, where they will host Vitoria at home.
