Explosion in Pakistan Leaves 13 Dead, 31 Injured

(MENAFN) At least 13 people lost their lives and 31 others were wounded following an explosion in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Tuesday, according to health and police officials.

Waseem Baig, media coordinator for the provincial health ministry, confirmed the number of casualties to local media and noted that the death toll may climb, as multiple victims remain in critical condition.

The blast took place near a political rally at Shahwani Stadium in Quetta, the provincial capital, police sources told media.

Government officials suspect the incident was a suicide bombing. They said an investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause and to identify and capture those responsible for the attack.

Following the explosion, law enforcement and rescue teams rushed to the site, transporting the injured to hospitals for medical care. Security forces have sealed off the area and begun collecting evidence.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
