Russia’s New Car Sales See Sharp Decline in 2025


(MENAFN) Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Tuesday that new vehicle sales plunged by 25 percent during the January to August period of 2025. Total sales of new cars—including passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), trucks, and buses—reached 877,600 units, with domestically manufactured cars dropping 6 percent to 483,000 units.

The ministry detailed sharp declines across categories: passenger car sales fell 23 percent to 768,200 units, LCV sales declined 21 percent to 66,400 units, while truck and bus sales experienced even steeper falls—down 56 percent to 35,960 units and 49 percent to 7,000 units, respectively.

For August alone, new vehicle sales slipped 21 percent year-on-year to 135,500 units, though there was a slight 1 percent increase compared to July.
