A powerful explosion ripped through Quetta's Saryab Road near Shahwani Stadium late Saturday night, killing at least 13 people and leaving several others injured.

According to security officials, the blast occurred shortly after a major political gathering organized by the Balochistan National Party (BNP) to commemorate the death anniversary of veteran Baloch leader Sardar Attaullah Mengal. The event, attended by thousands, was addressed by BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai, both of whom left the venue minutes before the explosion.

Initial reports suggest a suicide bomber detonated explosives among the dispersing crowd at around 9:45 pm. The powerful blast triggered chaos, damaging several vehicles and nearby shops. Rescue teams quickly shifted the injured to local hospitals, where an emergency has been declared.

Security sources said initial investigations indicate the involvement of militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan, allegedly operating with external backing. Authorities are also probing possible links to the recent neutralization of Akhtar Mengal's sit-in. Officials vowed that those responsible will face severe consequences.

The death toll stands at 13 but may rise as several victims are in critical condition. The area has been cordoned off, and a large-scale search operation is underway.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six Indian-sponsored militants from the Fitna al-Khawarij were killed after attempting to storm the Federal Constabulary Headquarters. The attack left six soldiers martyred and three civilians injured during intense fighting, but all attackers were neutralized.

Security forces reiterated their commitment to eliminating foreign-backed militants, assuring the nation that peace and stability in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be restored with public support.
