A Bangladeshi woman residing in Peshawar's Warsak Road area has accused her Pakistani husband's family of subjecting her to violence, threats, and looting. She claims the incident involved armed men and her husband's stepchildren, who allegedly attacked her, stole cash and a mobile phone, and vandalized the rented flat she was living in.

According to police, an FIR has been registered, and one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, the woman, identified as Masooda Begum, said she married a local resident, Gulab Khan, in 2019 and later performed Umrah in Saudi Arabia with him. She added that last year she gave birth to a daughter, Dua, and started receiving threats from her husband's relatives after demanding Pakistani citizenship for the child.

She alleged that her husband's family wants to send her and her baby back to Bangladesh and deprive them of all legal rights in Pakistan. Masooda further claimed that her husband has been missing for months and has not provided any financial support for the last four months.

Appealing to the Pakistani government and human rights organizations, the Bangladeshi woman requested protection for herself and her nine-month-old daughter, immediate action against the threats from her in-laws, and recognition of her daughter under her father's name.
