Qatar Museums, Qatar Calendar House Organize Public Event To Watch Total Lunar Eclipse On Sunday


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Museums, in collaboration with the Qatar Calendar House, is organizing a special event to watch a rare astronomical phenomenon that will be witnessed by the residents of Qatar next Sunday evening: the total lunar eclipse.
The event will be held in the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park, where a large tent will be set up with advanced astronomical observation equipment and tools, in addition to providing support services to provide an ideal and free visitor experience.
In this context, MIA Director, Shaika Al Nassr, noted the museum's established approach to serving the community through its public programs, its commitment to contributing to the dissemination of culture in various fields, including astronomical education, and its efforts to strengthen partnerships with national institutions and utilize the museum's capabilities to provide the public with a rich and comprehensive educational experience.
For his part, Executive Director of the Qatar Calendar House, Eng. Faisal Al Ansari, affirmed the House's commitment to its national plan to spread astronomical culture and sponsor related activities in the State of Qatar.
He emphasized the House's commitment to dedicating all its energies and specialized personnel to covering this exceptional astronomical event, and its appreciation for the strategic partnership with MIA, which provides the public with a unique opportunity to witness this phenomenon.
Dr. Bashir Marzouk, an astronomy expert at the Qatar Calendar House, said that residents of Qatar will be able to observe all phases of the total lunar eclipse.
The partial phase will begin at 7:27 pm on Sunday, followed by the total eclipse at 8:31 pm, reaching its peak at 9:12 pm Doha time and ending at 9:53 pm.
The partial eclipse will end at 10:56 pm. The combined duration of the partial and total eclipse phases will be approximately 3 hours and 29 minutes.
This phenomenon will also be visible in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia, and most residents of Arab countries, including Qatar, will be able to see all phases of the eclipse.
