Friends Of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs Celebration Of Tom Weir To Feature On BBC's One Show
(MENAFN- Pressat)
This Wednesday's (03/09) edition of the One Show has Friends Chairman John Urqhuart walking in the footsteps of Tom Weir as he shows TV presenter JJ Chalmers around some of Tom's favourite places. The village of Gartocharn was where Tom made his home back in the day when he was presenting“Weir's Way”, STV's forerunner of the BBC's“Countryfile” programme. John and JJ climb“The Dumpling”, a little hill with a big view overlooking Loch Lomond. They also visit Balmaha where the Friends recently renewed the interpretation panels at Tom Weir's Rest, their popular picnic site which features a bronze statue of Tom. The Friends are proud to be associated with a figure of Tom's standing, who was a champion of Scotland's wild places and wildlife in general.
