Ukraine Says It Regained Control of Village in Donetsk

(MENAFN) Ukraine announced on Monday that its forces had regained control of another village in the eastern Donetsk region. The Ukrainian General Staff issued a video statement confirming the recapture of Novoekonomichne, which had been under Russian control since July. The operation followed two weeks of intense combat with Russian troops.

Novoekonomichne, located roughly 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) northeast of the strategic city of Pokrovsk, has become a critical area in the ongoing conflict.

Russia has frequently reported territorial advancements in recent months, especially in Donetsk, with heavy fighting taking place around Pokrovsk. However, Ukrainian forces have also made significant strides, with reports of reclaiming several settlements, including the village of Novomykhailivka on August 24, as well as six others just a day prior.

Moscow has yet to respond to Ukraine's latest claim, and independent confirmation remains challenging due to the ongoing nature of the conflict.
