Endowment Department Receives QR100,000 Contribution For 'Waqf Al-Wuqoof'
Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced the receipt of a cash endowment worth QR100,000 in support of the“Waqf Al-Wuqoof” initiative, contributed by a philanthropist who had previously made endowments managed under the Directorate.
According to the endowment deed, the donor stipulated that the annual returns of the endowment be reinvested to establish a new endowment each year. This innovative approach creates a cumulative impact, multiplying the benefits over time and expanding charitable initiatives in a sustainable manner.
The entire contribution was allocated to“Waqf Al-Wuqoof,” which falls under the umbrella of the Waqf Fund for Benevolence and Piety-one of six specialised funds established by the Directorate to support public good initiatives not restricted to a specific sector.
Head of the Marketing Section at the Department of Waqf Funds, Ghanem Abdul Latif Al-Rumaihi, said the contribution reflects the donor's commitment to continuous giving and awareness of the importance of endowment as a source of lasting benefit. He added that“Waqf Al-Wuqoof” represents an innovative developmental vision, as it reinvests the returns of the original endowment annually to create new endowments.
This model strengthens the cumulative impact of investments, expands the number of beneficiaries, and ensures sustainability across generations.
Al-Rumaihi explained that the Waqf Fund for Benevolence and Piety was established as a flexible umbrella to support a wide range of charitable and humanitarian projects, inside and outside Qatar, in line with the objectives of Islamic law and national development priorities. The fund emphasises governance, transparency, and strict adherence to donor conditions in all its operations.
The fund supports initiatives that provide humanitarian assistance, aid to those in need, and other charitable activities, offering donors broad flexibility in directing their contributions to multiple areas of community benefit.
The Directorate invited philanthropists to establish their own endowments as ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), ensuring perpetual rewards.
Contributions can be made through multiple channels.
