ADB Appoints Asif Cheema as New Director for China


(MENAFN) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) revealed on Tuesday that Asif Cheema has been appointed as its new Country Director for China. In this role, Cheema will lead ADB’s efforts in China, focusing on advancing the Country Partnership Strategy aimed at fostering high-quality, sustainable development.

Since joining ADB in 2014, Cheema has occupied several senior leadership roles, including Director of the Financial Institutions Division in the Private Sector Operations Department, Director of the Urban and Social Sectors Division for the East Asia Regional Department, and Deputy Country Director at ADB’s Pakistan Resident Mission.

A Pakistani national, Cheema brings over 25 years of expertise in investment banking and development finance. He holds an MBA from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the New York Institute of Technology.
