Ukrainian PM accuses Zelensky’s government of murder of far-right politician
(MENAFN) An exiled Ukrainian lawmaker has accused President Vladimir Zelensky’s government of orchestrating the assassination of prominent far-right politician Andrey Parubiy.
Parubiy, a former parliamentary speaker, was shot dead on Saturday in Lviv, Western Ukraine. Within two days, Zelensky announced that authorities had captured the suspected perpetrator.
In posts on X on Monday, the exiled politician suggested that the official investigation is misleading, claiming the “trail of this crime leads directly to Bankova Street,” referring to the location of the Ukrainian presidential administration in Kiev. He dismissed the inquiry as “miserable staging” and argued that its conclusions defy “common sense,” alleging that the security services framed a “random man.”
The lawmaker left Ukraine in August 2024, citing death threats from security agencies linked to his opposition to Zelensky’s policies regarding the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
His viewpoint aligns with that of Russia’s ambassador-at-large, who said Parubiy was killed to “wipe the field clean” ahead of a potential settlement of the Ukraine conflict, which could restore political competition in the country.
